As a Trainer of Energy Therapies it is great to hear of your success stories. I am happy to share your experiences here, that way we all learn a little more, and besides, it’s great to know that what we do is being taken seriously in some unexpected quarters. So thanks to Denise for this…

I have, over the past few weeks, been privileged to work with one of the most interesting and challenging client groups I have so far come across in my EFT/NLP/Coaching career.
Working with people on Job Seekers allowance who attend a service provider for various skills training. These trainings are compulsory and if not attended, then they lose part or all of their benefits.
They are provided with skills to help them with communication, C.V. writing, basic skills etc. Some of these people have had jobs in the past and some have never had a job. (some don't even want one, and come from families where the parent/s never worked).
I was asked to offer counselling type skills to help with any emotional barriers to employment, such as confidence and self esteem issues. This is on a non-compulsory basis and does not affect their benefit entitlement, it is an extra service provided and paid for by a very go ahead and enlightened management.
The younger 18-25 year age group are generally streetwise kids, full of bravado and swagger, base ball caps pulled over their faces, mainly boys.
Most of this group appear not to have ever been employed and are usually in the unskilled labour category. Leaving school with no qualifications or being excluded completely.
So, armed with my tapping teddy, (you would be very surprised at who likes to use that little monkey!) I decided to introduce today's finest to EFT!
I have been amazed at their response so far. Firstly that these young people, who are very far removed from any sort of alternative health practises would even have a go at something as weird as tapping and talking about feelings, and secondly, amazed at the results that we are getting.
Anger is a very common feeling expressed. Some of the young men have criminal records related to their rages erupting in violence:
D.B. 23 years old, has a court appearance pending, possibly resulting in prison again, for violence. We worked on his anger feelings, uncovered various aspects relating to the rejection of him by his father who left when he was two. Initially, no eye contact was made, cap firmly clamped to his head, one word answers, until we hit the aspects relating to his fear of loving people because they would leave him. He had no idea that was why he had found it hard to have relationships or trust anybody, he had spent his life acting as if everyone was out to hurt him. He couldn't get a job as he was verbally abusive in interviews because he felt intimidated and threatened by everyone, especially when he was nervous.
In thirty minutes, he went from surly to sweet, and I am hopefully going to be allowed to work with him alongside his care worker in prison.
He left with his head high, cap literally in hand, big smile, resolute about his changed future.
S.W. came shuffling in, no swagger with this one, cap firmly on head, sat sideways to me. No eye contact, blushing with every sentence he mumbled.
At school, bullied for being left by his Mum, dyslexic, firmly believing himself to be " thick, slow, stupid." Very low confidence and self esteem, unwilling to speak above a whisper.
We had great fun, he thought I was taking the micky out of him (not quite how he put it!) when I showed him "this silly tapping thing"! You do not want to know what he said to the 9 gamut!!
However, he managed to tap along for a couple of rounds before refusing to do any more.
We worked, or rather I did as he sat and squirmed, for about thirty minutes, then he went back into his group. Later, his tutor asked me what I had done to him: he was asking questions in the group, giving her some eye contact and even cracked a joke in class.
The following week he came again, tapped for the whole session, said even his Dad and best mate had noticed the change in his level of eye contact, confidence and talkativeness. That was after only one session.
This has been a major learning curve for me and it continues to be so.
